Vitumbiko Mumba, the Malawi's Minister of Trade and Industry is/was in Angola for 2025 US-Africa Business Summit at the time the screenshot with the name 'Vitumbiko Eugeans Mumba' was circulating and claiming surviving a gun attack and going to report to police. Although the context is not mentioned and the middle name in the screenshot is not that of Hon. Vitumbiko Mumba, but the person or people who created it were meant to provide false information or mislead the readers.

To arrive at this verdict, iVerify Malawi critically analysed the name on the screenshot and information on where the Minister of Trade and Industry Hon. Vitumbiko Mumba was at the time the screenshot was circulating and claiming gun attack. The middle name on Hon. Mumba’s Facebook page is ‘Augeans’ NOT ‘Eugeans’ as appearing in the circulating screenshot. Additionally, although the screenshot did not provide the context of the claimed gun attack, iVerify Malawi has information that Hon. Mumba is in Angola for US-Africa Business Summit, and he left Malawi some days back for ministerial duties in countries such as Japan, China and Angola. On his Facebook Page ‘Vitumbiko AZ Mumba, Pr Eng’, there is a picture of him and Dr. Akinwumi A. Adesina, current President of African Development Bank in Angola.
