iVerify Malawi verified the information and determined that it is misleading. To arrive at this verdict, iVerify Malawi crosschecked the information with the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC). The Commission’s spokesperson Sangwani Mwafulirwa clarified and reaffirmed that there has been no change to the official schedule for the presentation of nomination papers by presidential candidates. Mwafulirwa said the schedule that was publicly released on 21st July 2025 remains the only valid and authoritative timetable for the process of receiving nomination papers. The publicly released schedule shows that Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika will present his nomination papers on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 9am. iVerify Malawi therefore concludes that the information that Professor Mutharika will present his papers on Monday is misleading as it is not factual, it is deceiving and meant to misinform.
