False information claiming Professor Peter Mutharika believes Malawi Congress Party presidential candidate Dr. Lazarus Chakwera will win September 2025 election
September 1, 2025
The circulating information has no context on where and when Professor Peter Mutharika said that. The spokesperson for Mutharika's party, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Mr. Shadric Namalomba (who is also Professor Mutharika's spokesperson) said at no point did the DPP presidential candidate say such things. The purported author, Mercy Matonga, who works for Times Group (a legit media house trading as Times 360 Malawi on social media), also said she did not author such a story. Times Group has also not published such a story on any of its online or offline platforms.
