It is false that fuel prices will be adjusted upwards on 16 June 2025

The notice circulating is not from Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) as it claims. Through the Authority's Facebook page, MERA has labelled it fake, and its Chief Executive Officer Henry Kachaje produced a video dismissing the information.

To arrive at this verdict, iVerify Malawi used information from the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) Chief Executive Officer Henry Kachaje, post on MERA’s Facebook page and analysed the information contained in the notice. In a video, Kachaje dismissed the information and MERA’s Facebook page labelled it as Fake. Further, the date of 16th June is not Sunday as the notice claims.
