iVerify Malawi verified information in reports by various mainstream media outlets, speeches made during the prayers at Page House or information used by the organisers and the statement from the Nkhoma Synod of the C.C.A.P and determined that the emphasis on ‘pastors from Nkhoma Synod of the C.C.A.P during the event and in media reports was meant to mislead. It is indeed true that some of the ‘pastors’ (C.C.A.P officially uses reverends) belong to or have existing and past connections to the group of reverends in the Nkhoma Synod of the C.C.A.P and the leadership of the Church owns them in a statement. However, narrating or reporting that all those people (the provided figure of 56 is also subject to verification as different media outlets are using different figures) who went to Page House as ‘pastors’ are all reverends from Nkhoma Synod of the C.C.A.P is not factual. Such information is deceiving and iVerify Malawi concludes that such narrative was deliberately created to mislead and media reports that just relayed the narrative by the organisers are lacking in terms of Fact-Checking.
